The month slipped by before I realized it. From traveling to getting the final printed proof of Loyalty: Washington Square Secrets 3 approved, it’s been a busy–and hot–July.
First up, here’s a peek at one of the stops on my travels. Frank Llyod Wright’s Fallingwater.

I waited several decades to see it, and it didn’t disappoint–even without air conditioning in summer. I could comfortably live and work there, from all the bookshelves to the views to the great built-in desks.

Only the family curated antique chairs threw off the space, in my opinion.

In other news, after ten weeks of classes, plus patrol ride alongs and field trips, I graduated the Mobile Police Department’s Citizens Police Academy. Here’s a picture of me with Lt. Congleton, who ran the academies for both the citizens and the MPD recruits. He answered a lot of my questions over the weeks in class.

After graduation, I joined the alumni association. That allowed me to volunteer at the MPD Academy graduation a few days later, which was an amazing experience.

Speaking of Mobile Police Department and the main reason for my deep-dive this year into all things MPD… Loyalty is ready to go with the gorgeous watercolor by Amanda Manley on the cover.

The cover is a great blend of the other Washington Square Secrets books and those of The Malevolent Trilogy, which is perfect because several characters from the trilogy make an appearance in Loyalty. Jim Abbott himself was first introduced in Severed Legacies. While it isn’t needed in order to read Loyalty, you’ve got time to catch up on The Malevolent Trilogy and Washington Square Secrets before the new release is available on August 27, 2024. Stay cool and read lots until then.
