Video From Last Week’s Event

A week ago, I had an event at The Haunted Book Shop with Captain Billie L. Rowland of the Mobile Police Department in celebration of Loyalty: Washington Square Secrets 3. Captain Rowland was my main source for Mobile Police Department accuracy in the historical setting of 1920 Mobile, Alabama.

I started off the presentation by giving an overview of the Southern Gothic genre. (If you aren’t familiar with it, here’s a presentation I put together for the H.P. Lovecraft Film Festival last year.) When the video snippet from The Haunt Book Shop begins, I introduce Loyalty. If you are already familiar with my newest book and the struggles I went through to research it, at time marker 2:50, Captain Rowland kicks in with information about the Mobile Police Department during Prohibition.

It was a fun event and there were a lot of good questions throughout. Special thanks to Jennifer Lamont for the use of her video to share this small glimpse.

If you’d like more in-depth information about Loyalty: Washington Square Secrets 3 and what I did to research it, check out this interview with Candice Marley Conner that is in the September 2024 issue of WELL READ magazine. I hope you enjoy reading Loyalty. Questions are welcome and reviews/ratings/shares are always appreciated.
