INFORMATION:

Carrie co-hosts online group discussions quarterly in the POSSESSED: TIMELESS GOTHIC READS Facebook group. Founded by Carrie and co-hosted with Gothic Horror author L.B. Stimson, the group rotates through all Gothic sub-genres: Southern Gothic, Gothic horror, Gothic romance, Gothic family saga, and more.

Carrie also hosts online book discussions about her new releases in Dalby’s Darklings, a private Facebook group for those who want the inside scoop.

BELLINGRATH GARDENS & HOME PRESENTATION

Carrie is pleased to return to Bellingrath Gardens & Home for the third winter in a row to present another visual literary journey into Mobile’s history and how it relates to her Southern Gothic novels as part of Bellingrath’s “Ink & Insight” educational programming.

This year, Carrie’s focus will be on how she incorporated 1920s Mobile Police Department history into Loyalty (2024) and Betrayal (2025), the third and fourth books in the Washington Square Secrets series. Carrie will be joined by MPD Historian Captain Billie Rowland for this informative presentation.

MOBILE LITERARY FESTIVAL

Carrie is co-chair of the Mobile Literary Festival and an active participant in the event, both in the planning stages and the day of. Readers and writers of all genres are welcome to attend this free community event at the Mobile Public Library.

GARDENS & GALLERIES

Oakleigh Garden District May 3, 2025

This ticketed event benefiting the upkeep of the Washington Square Park fountain garden featured garden tours at participating homes in the Oakleigh Garden District paired with art displays by local artist.

Carrie had a book table and cover art display set up from 11-2pm in the side yard of the Alliance cover house. Thank you, Helen, for inviting me!

RELEASE DAY for Unbroken Service: A History of the Mobile Police Department

Join Carrie in congratulating Captain Billie L. Rowland on the release of his debut book featuring highlights from over two hundred years of service to Alabama’s Port City by the Mobile Police Department.

Carrie shared her visual presentation “What is Southern Gothic?” at this year’s Azalea Creative Con to help others gain a clear understanding of the main themes in Southern Gothic literature, visual arts, and more through a plethora of examples and fandoms.

Captain Rowland and Carrie were at The Haunted Book Shop for a special event supporting Unbroken Service: A History of the Mobile Police Department and Betrayal: Washington Square Secrets 4. The event began with Carrie interviewing Captain Rowland with a focus on the history of the Mobile Police Department and his research journey. There was also Q&A time with the audience.

In celebration of the Betrayal: Washington Square Secrets 4 release week, Carrie was part of the ArtCentriCity extravaganza hosted by the band analog missionary. This community of creators is a great gathering for regular inspiration and support.

Free to attend, but tips for the band/host are encouraged. The next event will be at the end of September.

Carrie is pleased to be part of the “Narratives of Self: Exploring the Art of Storytelling Across Mediums” series for UWF’s Kugelman Honors Program students.

This presentation, limited to select students, will be centered on Carrie’s approach to regional storytelling with a focus on research and character development methods that help create an immersive reading experience for historical fiction .

HARVEST AUTHOR FEST

Visit with Carrie and dozens of other writers–including several of her friends–at the event of the season sponsored by Mobile Public Library.

MOBILE WRITERS GUILD

Carrie, the 2025-2026 co-vice president of Mobile Writers Guild, will be part of a panel discussion at their November meeting that also includes Alabama Writers Hall of Fame inductee Carolyn Haines and Writing Away Refuge founder Lee Ann Ward.

MWG’s meetings are free to attend and open to the public. Great for teens and adults interested in the business and craft of writing.
