Literary Lawn Party

THIS SATURDAY: Free Event!

The first ever Oakleigh Literary Lawn Party is happening Saturday, October 12, 2024, benefiting the Historic Mobile Preservation Society. Stop by anytime between 11am and 4pm on the Oakleigh Grounds and check out dozens of guest authors from around the region and a plethora of books within a gorgeous landscape.

Find my table in one of the main tents and stop to say hello, chat historic homes/Mobile history, pick up a few freebies while supplies last, and check out my books–all 18 will be available for purchase.

The location: 300 Oakleigh Pl, Mobile, Alabama, in the Oakleigh Garden District, which used to be called the Washington Square neighborhood.

All three of my Southern Gothic series (Washington Square Secrets, The Malevolent Trilogy, and The Possession Chronicles) have character homes and roots in this historic district. From the Mellings’ Government Street mansion all the way to the most recent book that houses Francesca Wilton on George Street, the homes are varied in size and style. I hope to have a map available to point you to the houses so you can walk or drive by them while you’re in the area.

  1. Hi Carrie,

I am loving your book! My daughter and I had so much fun visiting with you at the Oakleigh Lawn party. You’ve encouraged me so much!

I’ve started working on a manuscript I began a couple of years ago. I think I will try to self-publish it if I finish. I hope that’s possible.

If there are any more author events coming up, please let me know.

    Take care!

    1. That’s great to hear. The Malevolent Trilogy is a favorite for me–especially the final book. All the feels! And it’s great seeing people I know in the sea of strangers at events.

My next scheduled public event is at Bellingrath Gardens and Home on February 5, 2025. That will be a mid-morning presentation about the history of the Mobile Police Department alongside Captain Rowland, current MPD historian (and my research guru for all things MPD. He has helped me a lot with my most recent book, LOYALTY, as well as my next release. Both are set in the 1920s and one of the main characters is an MPD officer.)

There will also be the 2025 Mobile Literary Festival in the spring at the main library downtown. Lots of authors, informative panels, a book shop, and more–and it’s all free. I’m the co-chair for the festival.

The Events page on my website will be updated before the end of the year with the 2025 information as it becomes available.
